China to host 2023 Asian Cup

The Asian Football Confederation has announced that China will host the 18th Asian Cup in 2023. The announcement has been made following conference in Paris.

China was the only country to bid for the Asian Cup after its other competitor, South Korea, scraped its bid last month in order to "strategically focus on the hosting of the 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup."

This will be China's 2nd time to host the major Asian football event.

China last hosted the Asian Cup in 2004, reaching the final of that year's tournament.
