Real Madrid on Tuesday confirmed the signing of 21-year-old Serbian forward Luka Jovic on a contract until the end of June 2015.

The Spanish club will pay Eintracht Frankfurt a reported 65 million euros (73 million US dollars) for the player the German club signed from Benfica for around 7 million dollars earlier this year after having him on loan.

Jovic scored 27 goals in 48 appearances for Frankfurt this season, helping them to the semifinals of the Europa League where they lost in a penalty shoot-out to eventual champions, Chelsea.

The Real Madrid website confirmed the signing saying the 21-year-old had been "one of the sensations of the season in European football," and describing him as a "powerful and skillful player, who is good with both feet and stands out thanks to his finishing ability."

Jovic becomes Real Madrid's third signing for next season, following those of Brazilian youngster Rodrygo and central defender Eder Militao, taking their spending to around 160 million euros already.

The club are expected to close further deals for Chelsea's Eden Hazard and Olympique Lyon defender Ferland Mendy in the coming days, to take their total spending to around 300 million euros.
