David de Gea has put an end to speculation over his future after he signed a new contract at Manchester United until 2023, which includes an option for a further year.

De Gea has made 367 appearances for the club since the 28-year-old arrived from Spanish side Atletico Madrid in 2011.

Capped 40 times by Spain, de Gea has won the English Premier League, FA Cup, League Cup and UEFA Europa League during his time at Old Trafford.

The new deal, which will see de Gea earn between 395,000 euros (437,000 US dollars) and 423,000 euros (466,000 US dollars) per week, has made the Spaniard the world's highest-paid goalkeeper.

De Gea, who has consistently been linked with a move to Real Madrid in recent seasons, had entered into the last year of his contract and would have been able to open talks with clubs outside of England over a possible move in January 2020.
