The Islamic State (IS)' Amaq news agency said Monday the executioner of the Las Vegas mass shooting was one of its "soldiers."

Amaq released two short statements; the first claimed that the mass shooter was a soldier of the IS, and the second said he had converted to Islam months ago.

Amaq said its claims were founded on information passed on by a "security source," providing, however, no evidence to back up its claims.

In Las Vegas, a gunman on a high floor of a Las Vegas hotel opened fire at an outdoor concert where a huge number of people were gathering, killing over 50 people and wounding hundreds of others.

The attack was said to be one of the deadliest mass shooting in the history of the United States.
