The Bombardier Dash 8 aircraft from the Bangladeshi national flag carrier skidded off the runway while landing at 6:45 p.m. local time (1215 GMT).

"Sixteen people including a pilot with head injury have been sent to the North Okkalapa General Hospital for treatment so far," Zwe Yan Naing, chairman of Shweyaung Thamaing, Emergency Rescue and Social Support Organization (ERSSDO), told Xinhua.

The Biman plane was flying from Bangladesh's Dhaka to Myanmar's Yangon.
