Several people were injured when three to four gunmen stormed a five-star hotel in the Gwadar district of Pakistan's southwest Balochistan province, provincial home minister said.

Mir Zia Lango, the minister, said that three to four unknown militants sprayed bullets at the hotel before entering it, adding that army and paramilitary troops are carrying out a joint operation to neutralize the militants.

Talking to Xinhua, security sources from Balochistan confirmed that some militants entered the hotel's premises, but were immediately stopped by security forces, who engaged them in a gun battle.

Lango said that security forces took timely action to evacuate the majority of the guests from the hotel.

A gun battle continues in the area between the security forces and the militants.

Separatist group Balochistan Liberation Army confirmed the attack from an unverified Twitter account. The authenticity of the post is unknown yet.
