Fire breaks out at under-construction warship in Mumbai’s Mazgaon Dockyard
A fire broke out at a naval under-construction warship at Mazgaon Dockyard located in Indian commercial center Mumbai’s eastern sea-front on Friday evening.
One person is suspected to be trapped inside, said the fire brigade.
“Fire is confined on the second and third decks of the ship. Fire fighting operation has been under process,” said the update released by the fire brigade.
The warship caught fire at 5:44 p.m. local time and eight fire-fighting engines, along with quick-response vehicles, have been pressed into service to extinguish the blaze.
The construction of the warship, a stealth guided missile destroyer, started at Mazgaon Dock in July, 2018.
