A toddler slipped from her grandfather's arms when he was playing with the little girl on the 11th floor of a Royal Caribbean cruise ship. He lifted her out of the open window, but unfortunately lost his grip.
The Associated Press reported the tragedy happened when the victim was on holiday with her parents, younger brother and maternal and paternal grandparents, aboard the Freedom of the Seas.
Cruise ship passengers were recalling the cry let out by the mother. "I looked because of the mother's cry," a tourist recalled. "That tonality, a scream of pain of that nature, does not compare with any other scream."
The victim's family will remain in the U.S. territory while the girl's death is being investigated.
The Freedom of the Seas, which can accommodate 3,634 passengers, was about to embark on a seven-day Carribbean cruise when the accident happened.
