China's national legislature stresses unity around Xi's leadership

China's national legislature calls for uniting closely around the Communist Party of China Central Committee with Xi Jinping as the core, according to a work report of the National People's Congress (NPC) Standing Committee to be delivered Wednesday.

The fifth session of the 12th NPC is scheduled to convene a plenary meeting at 3:00 p.m. at the Great Hall of the People to hear the work report to be delivered by top legislator Zhang Dejiang.

Legislators will hear explanations on draft general provisions of civil law, a draft decision on deputy elections for the 13th NPC, and draft methods for the election of deputies to the 13th NPC from Hong Kong and Macao special administrative regions.
