The emu is the second largest bird on the planet after the ostrich. Emus are quite common in Australia but that's the only place they live. There had been military operations targeting emu in the west of the country in the 1930s and 1940s by the government to reduce the bird's population as locals complained about their massive crop attacks. Now many emus are bred instead of being wild. Interestingly male emus are always responsible for incubating eggs. [File photo: baidu.com]
