Andrew McCarthy, an astrophotographer living in America, found an ingenious way of capturing extraordinary photographs of the moon without using high-end cameras. Andrew uses two regular cameras: a Sony A7 II and a ZWO ASI 224MC CCD. One is used to capture the earthshine and the stars, while the other captures the detail on the light side of the moon. The final 81-megapixel image is composed of some 50,000 exposures taken over one hour. [Photo via IC/Andrew McCarthy]
