German college develops robot with sensitive full-body skin

A humanoid robot with artificial skin is on display at a university in German on Oct. 10, 2019. A team at the Technical University of Munich (TUM) has developed a system combining artificial skin with control algorithms to create the first autonomous humanoid robot with full-body artificial skin. The skin consists of a number of hexagonal cells with each of them equipped with a microprocessor and sensors to detect contact, acceleration, proximity and temperature. [Photo: IC]
