Ancient Shandong town lights up with iron fireworks
Dragon and lion dances are part of traditional Lunar New Year celebrations in this ancient town. People believe they bring good luck, peace, and a good harvest.
They also celebrate with displays of iron fireworks. Iron fireworks have been performed in China for more than 2,000 years. The performer melts pig iron at 1,600 degrees C and tosses it into the air, creating a brilliant shower of sparks.
