Chinese teenager invents tool for elderly to climb stairs, wins int'l award

Ding Chen, a teenager from Anhui Taihe No.3 Middle School, won the international Youth Gold Medal for his invention of a tractor that helps the elderly ascend stairs.

Ding Chen's grandpa has difficulty climbing up stairs. In order to help him go upstairs more easily, Ding came up with the idea for the invention.

The tractor won him the Youth Gold Medal on the Invention and New Product Exposition (INPEX) in June in the US state of Pennsylvania.

INPEX is America's largest invention trade show, organized by InventHelp. The annual show is held each June in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
