Guangzhou Zoo shutters popular circus performance

The Guangzhou Zoo has decided to put an end to a popular circus performance which it has been running for the last 24 years. Zoo officials have bowed to pressure from animal rights activists, saying they now consider the show contrary to animal rights protection.

Started in 1993, the circus had been one of the major draws for the Guangzhou Zoo.
