With the acceleration of China’s urbanization process, many adults have left rural areas for jobs in the cities, creating the problem of ”left-behind children." In Longhui County, Hunan Province, 80 percent of the adult population has migrated elsewhere for work, leaving children and the elderly behind. Quyang Encheng began teaching in 1964. After retiring, he gathered 30,000 yuan to buy cabinets and bookshelves to make a library for the left-behind children.
