In 2013, China proposed the Silk Road Economic Belt and the 21st-century Maritime Silk Road, also known as the Belt and Road Initiative. It is aimed at enhancing cross-continental and mutually-beneficial collaboration.

The Belt and Road Initiative now involves more than 100 countries and international organizations eager to embrace its long-term benefits.
