A red panda cub will make his debut in New York City

A naming ceremony is set to take place on Friday at the Binghamton Zoo in New York for a red panda cub born at the zoo last month.The cub, born on July 7th, is the product of the Red Panda Species Survival Plan, which is working to try to create genetic diversity among the endangered species.Red panda populations have declined by around 50 percent in the eastern Himalalyas and southwestern China over the past 20 years.
