The First Jiuzhai International Photography Competition on Panda Conservation and Research Begins

From May 6th to November 6th , the 1st Jiuzhai International Photography Competition on Panda Conservation and Research is held. It is jointly hosted by China Panda Conservation and Research Center, Jiuzhaigou County government, Jiuzhaigou Scenic Spot and Dajiulv Travel Group.

The theme of the competition is ‘Sharing the Panda Culture with the World’. It has 159 awards, with a total bonus of 200,000 RMB. Particularly, the special prize has a bonus of 50,000 yuan. Photos need to be taken in worldwide panda theme conservation zones, bases and demonstration zones.

China’s Wolong, Dujiangyan, Bifengxia and Hetaoping bases, as well as the Jiuzhaigou scenic spot, are the popular areas for photography. Themes including panda research, culture exchange, history and ecological environment are welcomed.

China Panda Conservation and Research Center is the official institution for panda research, conservation, education and publicity. Till the end of last year, the center has 232 pandas in captivity, marking a 60 percent proportion of the world’s pandas in captivity. Among the 232 pandas, 34 of them live abroad, taking 75% of the global exchange pandas.

Jiuzhaigou County is a world-famous natural heritage. Tens of pandas are there. Wujiao Panda Conservation Zone in Jiuzhaigou has wild pandas. It is also listed as a theme zone for panda demonstration, feeding and taming.
