Katy Bowman specializes in biomechanics and movement.  She believes that sleeping on the floor might be a good idea.

She says that we sit in chairs at work, lay on the couch at home and then sleep on a soft mattress, which is all making us a bit soft. She also believes that we achieve better sleep on the floor because a mattress can lock us into one position. So sleeping on the floor would mean less aches and pains and more comfort.

She also says you can ease into sleeping on the floor by switching sides, switching rooms, ditching the mattress and then ditching the bed all together.
