长沙磁浮快线安全试运营一周年 Maglev rail line safely operated for 1 year

China's first middle-to-low speed(速度) magnetically levitated (maglev) rail line in Changsha has safely operated(运营) for one year.The rail line stretches more than 18 kilometers and is the longest of its kind(类型) in the world.

The maglev shuttles(往返) between Changsha's south railway station and the airport.

It takes less than 20 minutes to complete(完成) the 18.55-km journey.

The 48-meter-long train can carry(搭载) 363 people in three carriages(车厢). It can achieve(到达) a maximum(最大) speed of 100 km per hour.

The domestically produced moderate-speed maglev line costs(花费) about 195 million yuan (about 30 million U.S. dollars) per kilometer, not including relocation fees(费用). It is highly economical in terms(方面) of construction(建设) and maintenance(维护) costs.
