诗人余光中病逝 Chinese poet Yu Guangzhong dies at 90

Well-known(著名的) Chinese poet(诗人) and writer(作家) Yu Guangzhong(余光中) died(逝世) on Thursday at the age of 90 in Taiwan. He was admitted to hospital earlier after suffering a stroke(中风) and a pulmonary infection(肺部感染).

Yu was born(出生) in Nanjing(南京) city of Jiangsu province in 1928 and then moved(迁居) to Taiwan. He dedicated half a century to literary creation and his masterpiece(名作) Nostalgia(乡愁) has generated much resonance among ethnic Chinese around the world.

Nostalgia
乡愁

When I was a child,
Nostalgia seemed a tiny stamp:
"Here was I
And there ……my mother." 

小时候,
乡愁是一枚小小的邮票,
我在这头,
母亲在那头。

Then I was a grown-up,
Nostalgia became a small ship ticket:
"Here was I
And there……my bride." 

长大后,
乡愁是一张窄窄的船票,
我在这头,
新娘在那头。

During the later years,
Nostalgia turned to be a little tomb:
"Here was I
And yonder……my mother." 

后来啊,
乡愁是一方矮矮的坟墓,
我在外头,
母亲在里头。

And today,
Nostalgia looms large to be a shallow strait:
"Here am I
And yonder……my motherland!"

而现在,
乡愁是一湾浅浅的海峡,
我在这头,
大陆在那头。
