American devotes himself to translating Chinese classic text

Dai Lin was given a copy of "The Dao-te Ching" by a teacher when he graduated from Boston University with a degree in computer science. Ever since, he has immersed himself in Chinese culture. After arriving in China 15 years ago, he travelled extensively before settling down in Qingdao City, Shandong Province, to work as a teacher at a university. A few years ago, he quit his teaching job, moved into a remote little house in the mountains, and started translating "The Dao-te Ching".[Photo: IC]
