Waiter carries hot dishes with head for 38 years

66-year-old Chen Changfa has become a legend carrying a 2-meter-long food tray full of hot dishes with his head, serving local feasts for 38 years. This technique has been passed down for 10 generations, since the middle of the Qing dynasty. The tray was designed to be 1 meter long and 20 cm wide in order to fit 10 dishes and allow the server to pass through a crowd of diners while carrying more dishes with both hands. As time went by, Chen Changfa and his apprentice Yang Guangxiang are the only two left in town that still practice this tradition. [Photo: IC]
