The cultural relics authority of northwest China's Shaanxi Province will send two experts to repair a terracotta warrior statue whose thumb was stolen by a member of the public while on display at a Philadelphia museum last year.
Meanwhile, the exhibit "Terracotta Warriors of the First Emperor" continues at the Franklin Institute in Philadelphia despite the surprising interruption.
The statue's stolen thumb has been retrieved five days after it was being snapped off from the left hand of the clay soldier, and authorities from the two countries are settling the incident through agreements and legal procedures.
The statue, which is a cavalryman, dates back to at least 209 B.C. It is one of 10 Chinese terracotta warrior statues currently on display at the Franklin Institute. The exhibit will run until March 4.
