Chinese Premier Li Keqiang on Thursday met with European Commission Vice President Maros Sefcovic, who is in Beijing to attend the Second Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation.

China is willing to work with Europe to promote the implementation of the consensus reached at the 21st China-EU leaders' meeting, accelerate the China-EU Comprehensive Investment Agreement talks, complete negotiations on the geographical indications agreement, and ink the China-EU Civil Aviation Safety Agreement as soon as possible, which will benefit both China and Europe as well as the whole world, Li said.

China is willing to further align the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) with the EU Strategy on Connecting Europe and Asia, expand cooperation on third-party markets in a market-oriented and law-abiding manner, and deepen coordination and cooperation on issues like climate change, Li added.

Sefcovic said the European side attaches importance to the BRI, which has achieved great success, and is willing to participate in related cooperation.

The European side is willing to work with China to promote EU-China investment agreement talks, strengthen communication on issues like World Trade Organization reforms, expand cooperation on transport, development aid and third-party markets under the BRI framework, and jointly uphold multilateralism and free trade, he added.
