New China-Myanmar friendship school set up in Yangon

Students studying at a school in northwestern Yangon will have more study spaces on campus as a new building was put into use on Tuesday, June 6.The No. 9 High School in Hlaing Thar Yar Township has become the 11th China-Myanmar Friendship School in Myanmar as China funded the 220,000-US-dollar building, which can accommodate over 700 students. The China-Myanmar Friendship Program, launched in 2015, is expected to see new buildings erected at 20 school sites in the Southeast Asian country by the end of 2017. The first one was inaugurated in Shwekyin, Bago Region in October last year. Financial support for scholarships is also provided to the students.
