The Shaolin Temple on the Songshan Mountain is regarded as one of the birthplaces of Chinese Kungfu. As such, the 1,500 year old site in Dengfeng city, Henan province, is a place of pilgrimage for practitioners from all over the world, who come to share their skills and wisdom on the martial art. At the first "Great Meeting Open to All," held on 29 July, visiting Kung Fu masters were welcomed by Shi Yongxin (2nd left), the abbot of Shaolin Temple. The event lasts until August 4, and sees overseas guests participate in events such as the lamp transmission ceremony, and the "Shaolin Temple and the Northern Buddhist" academic seminar.
