Shaolin martial art class opens for African apprentices

An African apprentice demonstrates Shaolin kung fu during the opening ceremony of the seventh Shaolin Martial Art African Apprentice Class on Monday, July 22, 2019. The class is being held at the Shaolin Temple, a Zen Buddhist temple famous for its traditional Chinese Kung fu teaching, in Henan Province. The class was organized by the temple in partnership with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. A total of 18 apprentices will live at the temple for three months. The apprentices are from Djibouti, Cameroon, Niger, the Republic of Congo, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and Cote d'Ivoire. [Photo: IC]
