Sergio Thompson (1st R) studies automotive repair skills with his classmates on a practice course at Shandong Lanxiang Technician College in Jinan, Shandong Province on Feb. 26, 2019. The 19-year-old student from Ghana was sent to China by his father to learn automobile repair skills four years ago. Thompson is the first foreign student at Lanxiang vocational school, and he named himself Liu Yang in Chinese. Language was a difficult challenge for him. Thompson put up Chinese pinyin cards everywhere in his room so he could keep practicing. One year later, he could communicate with others in Chinese fluently. Technical skill was another challenge. He majored in Automobile Repair and can now dismantle and assemble an automotive engine with a blindfold in the time it takes to prepare and eat a meal. Thompson will graduate from his college and take what he learnt back to Ghana this summer. Thompson and his father plan to open a technical school in Ghana and invite Chinese teachers to teach automotive repair skills to Ghanaians. [Photo: Xinhua]
