Shonali is a child laborer at a plastics recycling factory near Keraniganj in Dhaka, Bangladesh, seen here on August 19, 2018. After school, she goes to the factory to help her mother. Her family came to the town from the countryside for a better future, and ended up working at this factory where they earn around 2.5 U.S. dollars a day. The International Labor Organization launched World Day Against Child Labor in 2002 to focus attention on the problem of child labor and to raise awareness of the actions needed to eliminate it. Each year on 12 June, governments, employers and workers organizations, civil society, as well as millions of individuals people around the world come together to highlight the plight of child laborers and what can be done to help them.
