Submerged temple in Thailand emerges because of drought

People at the ruins of a Buddhist temple that resurfaced in a dried-up dam due to the drought in Lopburi, Thailand, seen here on Thursday, August 1, 2019. Thailand is reportedly facing its worst drought in a decade. The temple, Wat Nong Bua Yai, was submerged during the construction of the dam 20 years ago. As the water level in the reservoir fell to less than 3 percent of its capacity, the temple has reappeared in the middle of dry ground. And not for the first time – it reappeared briefly following a drought in 2015. [Photo: VCG/ Soe Zeya Tun]
