Man submerged in ice sets new world record

Josef Koeberl, an Austrian athlete, became the new world record holder for longest time spent submerged in ice on Saturday, August 10, 2019, in Vienna, Austria. He stayed in an ice filled box for two hours, eight minutes and 47 seconds, wearing only a swimsuit. Chinese athlete Jin Songhao of Xiamen held the previous record when he set it in 2014. During the challenge, Koeberl’s body temperature was monitored to make sure he was safe. After the daring feat, experts declared him healthy. [Photo: IC]
