Uyghur buildings
Traditional Uyghur dwellings feature flat square roofs, walls tamped with bricks and mud and a fairly deep front corridor. Outer walls are always painted white, blue, green, pink and yellow.
Uyghur people mainly live in Xinjiang Uyghur Autonomous Region in northwestern China. The people love to plant flowers and also enjoy carved wooden furniture and decorations in their houses and yards. Fruit trees and grapes form a cool outdoor living area.
They also put tea sets in the courtyard or external corridor to entertain guests, with fruit, milk tea and dishes being prepared.
The interior of the rooms is carefully arranged and decorated with embroidery, tapestries and larger curtains with various designs.
Uyghur people clean their houses several times a day. Often, three or sometimes four generations of a family will live together.
