Little Big China - The Ice Swimmers

It's a sport for the brave, the courageous and the fearless! Nestled along the sides of Houhai Lake in Beijing, the Beijing Winter Swimming Club regularly takes the time for a quick dip in the icy water of the lake. Mr Jin, a swimmer who is well known around Houhai tells how swimming in the icy water motivates him and his fellow swimmers. 

As China gears up to host the 2022 Winter Olympics, we take a look at what kind of winter sports are offered in China - from swimming in ice water to hitting the snow routes. Although not a big player in winter sports, China has a lot to offer, and the emergence of winter sports is an increasingly growing industry as well as becoming popular within Chinese society. 

In the first season of Little Big China, we look at how winter sports are developing, and what kind of activities China offers and can continue to offer aspiring winter athletes.
