Chinese square dancing made "silent"

A video shows a group of "dancing aunties" in Jiangbei District, southwest China's Chongqing Municipality, who used technology to cut down the noise normally associated with Plaza (Square) Dancing. The group has replaced the traditional loudspeakers with headphones, which are connected to wireless receivers worn at the waist. "Putting on the headphones satisfies both sides: it enables us to exercise without disturbing others," said one of the "dancing aunties" in the video.
Plaza Dancing, promoted in China as a way for middle-aged and retired Chinese women to stay healthy, has become a source of social frustration in recent years, with local residents voicing complaints about noise generated by the "dancing aunties."
