Non-stop lift - the paternoster elevator
Take a look at the last remaining non-stop elevators, the paternoster elevator.
The paternoster elevator, which works on a circuit and never stops moving, is rarely seen these days. The invention of the paternoster dated to the 19th century in the UK when it was thought to can deliver more people without as a long of a wait. But they could also be very dangerous if they don't have an emergency shut off triggered by an obstruction.
Now only a handful still operate in Central and Eastern Europe. In the Czech Republic, they are mainly used by staff in government buildings with a few open to the public. There are also as many 200 of them still in use in the Germany and a few remain in the UK.
