Taunggyi Fire Balloon Festival attracts tens of thousands of visitors

The week-long festival ended November 3, in Taunggyi, the capital city of Myanmar’s northern state of Shan. Over 300 homemade balloons set off during this competition on Friday. Organizers will announce the winner on Saturday.

This festival is part of the Buddhist celebration of Tazaungdaing, or the Festival of Lights. It also marks the end of Kahtein, where robes are given to Buddhist monks.
