Is Boulder really the happiest city in the U.S.?
National Geographic recently ranked Boulder, Colorado as the happiest city in the U.S. The ranking is based on the opportunities for a healthy lifestyle, civic engagement, financial security, and vacation time.
Many Boulder residents say the small city nestled on the the edge of the Rocky Mountains offers an easygoing lifestyle with plenty of access to fresh air and nature, and a booming economy for science and tech workers.
But others say that the city has simply become a haven for wealthy, white Americans (the average price of a home surpassed $1 million in 2016, and 90% of the population is white).
