The Turkey Pardon

U.S. President Donald Trump is pardoning his first turkey...and also intends to donate birds to a local soup kitchen for their programs to feed the homeless.

For the past 70 years, the holiday tradition for American presidents is to pardon a turkey that might otherwise end up as someone's meal for Thanksgiving, the uniquely American national holiday marking the anniversary of when the first colonists survived their first year in what is now the state of Massachusetts.
