Chinese views on China-US tariff dispute
U.S. President Donald Trump signed a memorandum on March 22nd that could see tariffs of up to USD $60 billion on imports from China, on top of the recent tariffs on aluminum and steel imports. These moves have fuelled fears that the world's two largest economies are sliding towards a trade war.
The next day, China announced tariffs on imported U.S. products worth about USD $3 billion in response to the U.S. metals tariffs. China will put tariffs on U.S. fruits, wine, nuts, pork, steel pipes, and recycled aluminum.
