New York Asian Film Festival

This year’s New York Asian Film Festival is focusing on China‘s movies, like serial-killer thriller "The Looming Storm" and comedy "Looking for Lucky".

The festival aims to realign and correct preconceptions, and showcase the variety and strength of Chinese cinema today.

In China cinema attendance in gaining in numbers. Last year box offices raked in almost $8 billion US dollars - nearly 20% of the global total of $40 billion in sales. In comparison, movie theater attendance in North American is at a 22-year low. And Chinese-made movies are still struggling to break into the American mainstream.
