Kunqu (Kun Opera)
Kunqu is one of the oldest of China's opera forms, and also a treasure of Chinese culture.
Kunqu features three elements: rich clothing, vivid colors, and expressive face painting.
There are strict rules governing the face painting with the same character adopting different designs at different times throughout the performance according to different moods and situations.
Kunqu was listed as one of the Masterpieces of the Oral and Intangible Heritage of Humanity, by UNESCO since 2001.
Today, Kunqu is performed around the globe, belonging not only to China, but also the whole world.
