四川一航班因机械故障紧急着陆 Plane forced to divert after mechanical failure

A Chinese commercial flight was forced(被迫) to divert to an alternate airport after a mechanical failure(机械故障), authorities confirmed Monday.

Flight 3U8633, operated by Sichuan Airlines, was en route from southwest China's Chongqing(重庆) Municipality to Lhasa(拉萨), capital of Tibet Autonomous Region. It was forced to divert to Chengdu(成都), capital of Sichuan Province.

According to the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC), part of the cockpit window(前风挡玻璃) broke(破碎) as the Airbus A319 flew over Chengdu. The aircrew enacted emergency code 7700 and landed in Chengdu. All passengers(乘客) are safe(安全的), although the co-pilot(副驾驶) sustained injuries(受伤) to the face(面部) and waist(腰部), and another crew member was slightly hurt during the emergency landing, according to the CAAC.

Sichuan Airlines confirmed the diversion, and said that an investigation(调查) is under way. The plane landed in Chengdu at 7:46 a.m. on Monday.

There were 119 passengers and 9 crew members on board, according to the airline, which has arranged another flight to take the passengers to Lhasa.

Video footage shot by passengers showed baggage falling from overhead lockers during the emergency landing and oxygen masks(氧气罩) dropping(掉下) for use.
