'Electronic ID card' launched in east China

An "Electronic ID card" has launched the in the cities of Quzhou, Hangzhou and Fuzhou, April 17, 2018. It is estimated that within a year over 4 million citizens will apply for the card, which is co-developed by CTID and Alipay. With the new identification, citizens can handle issues such as online applications for identity documents and travel documents, such as passports. The card can also be used for checking into hotels, entering stadiums, museums and theaters, as well as passing security checks at train stations and airports after the ID code system is scanned.
