Forbidden City in holiday mood for Chinese New Year
6/8
Pictures of Door gods are put up on doors and gates throughout the Forbidden City. Putting up pictures of door gods is one of the traditions of the Lunar New Year. It is believed that a door god can protect people living inside and keep bad luck and disasters outside. The Forbidden City is planning a Lunar New Year exhibition to reappear how the royal family celebrated the holiday in the Qing Dynasty. The exhibition will be divided into two parts, one is on display to be viewed and another is an interactive area for curious visitors. The exhibition will last for two months from January to March in 2019. [Photo: VCG]
