习近平在博鳌亚洲论坛发表主旨演讲 Xi delivers keynote speech at Boao Forum

President Xi delivers(发表) a keynote speech(演讲) at the opening ceremony(开幕式) of the Boao Forum for Asia Annual Conference 2018.

The conference runs from April 8 to 11 in Boao(博鳌), a town in South China's island province of Hainan, and is themed "An Open and Innovative Asia for a World of Greater Prosperity(开放创新的亚洲,繁荣发展的世界)."

Here are the highlights of the speech.

• "With the future in mind, we need to treat each other with respect and as equals," said Xi.
  “面向未来,我们要相互尊重、平等相待。”
  “Miànxiàng wèilái，wǒmen yào xiānghù zūnzhòng、píngděng xiāngdài。” 

• "Today, the Chinese people can say with great pride that reform and opening-up, China's second revolution if you like, has not only profoundly changed the country but also greatly influenced the whole world," the president said.
  “今天,中国人民完全可以自豪地说,改革开放这场中国的第二次革命,不仅深刻改变了中国,也深刻影响了世界!”
  “Jīntiān，Zhōngguó rénmín wánquán kěyǐ zìháo de shuō，gǎigé kāifàng zhèchǎng Zhōngguó de dì èr cì gémìng，bùjǐn shēnkè gǎibiàn le Zhōngguó，yě shēnkè yǐngxiǎng le shìjiè！ ” 
  

• "The most important one is that for any country or nation to achieve rejuvenation, they must follow the logic of history and the trend of the times in their pursuit of progress and development," Xi said.
  “其中最重要的一条就是,一个国家、一个民族要振兴,就必须在历史前进的逻辑中前进、在时代发展的潮流中发展。”
  “Qízhōng zuì zhòngyào de yītiáo jiùshì，yīgè guójiā、yīgè mínzú yào zhènxīng，jiù bìxū zài lìshǐ qiánjìn de luójí zhōng qiánjìn、zài shídài fāzhǎn de cháoliú zhōng fāzhǎn。”
  

• "China's reform and opening-up meets its people's aspiration for development, innovation and a better life. It also meets the global trend toward development, cooperation and peace," Xi said.
  “中国进行改革开放,顺应了中国人民要发展、要创新、要美好生活的历史要求,契合了世界各国人民要发展、要合作、要和平生活的时代潮流。”
  “Zhōngguó jìnxíng gǎigé kāifàng，shùnìng le Zhōngguó rénmín yào fāzhǎn、yào chuàngxīn、yào měihǎo shēnghuó de lìshǐ yāoqiú，qìhé le shìjiè gèguó rénmín yào fāzhǎn、yào hézuò、yào hépíng shēnghuó de shídài cháoliú。” 

• "Putting oneself on a pedestal or trying to immune oneself from adverse developments will get nowhere," said Xi.
  “妄自尊大或独善其身只能四处碰壁。”
  “Wàngzì zūndà huò dúshàn qíshēn zhǐnéng sìchù pèngbì。”

• "We must dispel the clouds to see the sun, as we say in Chinese, so as to have a keen grasp of the law of history and the trend of the world," said Xi.
  “我们要不畏浮云遮望眼,善于拨云见日,把握历史规律,认清世界大势。”
  “Wǒmen yào bùwèi fúyún zhē wàng yǎn， shànyú bōyún xiànrì，bǎwò lìshǐ guīlǜ，rènqīng shìjiè dàshì。” 

• "We will take the initiative to expand imports," Xi said.
  “主动扩大进口。”
  “Zhǔdòng kuòdà jìnkǒu。” 

• "Each age and generation have their own challenges and missions. China has come a long way, but it has to overcome new challenges on its way ahead," Xi said.
  “一个时代有一个时代的问题,一代人有一代人的使命。虽然我们已走过万水千山,但仍需要不断跋山涉水。”
  “Yīgè shídài yǒu yīgè shídài de wèntí，yīdài rén yǒu yīdài rén de shǐmìng。Suīrán wǒmen yǐ zǒuguò wànshuǐ qiānshān，dàn réng xūyào bùduàn báshān shèshuǐ。”

• "We will pay equal attention to 'bringing in' and 'going global', and break new ground in opening China further through links running eastward and westward, across land and over sea," Xi said.
  “坚持引进来和走出去并重,推动形成陆海内外联动、东西双向互济的开放格局。”
  “Jiānchí yǐn jìnlái hé zǒu chūqù bìngzhòng，tuīdòng xíngchéng lùhǎi nèiwài liándòng、dōngxī shuāngxiàng hùjì de kāifàng géjú。”
