移植子宫内孕育宝宝出生！中国首例​ Baby born from transplanted uterus donated by grandmother

A 26-year-old Chinese woman who was born without(没有 méiyǒu) uterus(子宫 zǐgōng) now has successfully given birth to a baby boy after the woman's mother donated(捐献 juānxiàn) her uterus to the daughter.

This is reportedly the first case in China, and only the 14th in the world, where a baby has been born from a transplanted(移植 yízhí) uterus. The event marks a breakthrough(突破 túpò) by China's doctors in the treatment(治疗 zhìliáo) of infertility.

In 2015, the then 22-year-old visited the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Xijing Hospital(西京医院) in the city of Xi'an in Shaanxi Province. She was worried about never having a period(例假 lìjià). After an ultrasound, she was shocked to be told that she was born without a uterus.

Her mother was determined to see her daughter have an opportunity to have children of her own, and decided to donate her uterus to her. The transplant surgery(手术 shǒushù) was successfully completed at the hospitalin November 2015.
