12 win selection contest for bun scrambling race final

Twelve finalists for Hong Kong’s annual Bun Scrambling Competition have emerged following a selection contest on Sunday, May 6.

The nine male and three female participants are the fastest among 76 to scale a 14-meter-high tower.

They will scramble for buns on the tower and compete to be the men's and women's champion in the final to be held from 11.30pm on May 22 to 12.30am on May 23.

A special prize will be awarded to the participant who bags the most buns.

To make the event more appealing, any male or female athlete who has won the first prize three times from 2016 will become the "King of Kings" or the "Queen of Queens" and be awarded with a trophy, according to an earlier announcement by the Hong Kong government.
