A fourth group of Afghan children with congenital heart disease has received free medical treatment in China's Xinjiang. Surgery has been performed successfully on 26 of the children; one was found to not require surgical treatment. Six of the children have already returned to Afghanistan, and another 18 are due home on Wednesday.
China's Ambassador to Afghanistan Liu Jingsong visited the children in hospital on Tuesday, and brought them gifts provided by China's Red Cross.
China has provided free medical treatment to a total of 100 Afghan children suffering from congenital heart disease under a program launched in August last year.
